I'm Paige.

I am Wiccan, but I'm new and still learning the ropes. I'm hoping that this blog will be a chance for me to share my experiences, as well as learn through reflection and the sharing of knowledge as I learn. Blessed be. )O(

My familiar

I've been thinking about how I'd describe my familiar, who is a gorgeous tabby cat named Bella. I think of her as my non-biological child, my furry baby. But I decided that I'd classify her as my fluffy soulmate in terms of her being my familiar. What are your views on familiars?

Veganism

I am a vegan. And as I become more involved with veganism, as well as with Wicca, I feel more and more that the two are interconnected. Vegans have a respect for the earth and all her creatures. We strive to avoid harm to them. And Wiccans have respect for nature and her creatures. "An' it harm none, do what ye will." This includes innocent animals. The torture and slaughter of innocent animals isn't harming none. 59,000,000,000 animals die each year for food. They are fed grain that if fed to humans, would end world poverty. The meat and dairy industries aren't sustainable, and they contribute to 50% of climate change. They aren't harming none. They are harming all.

Nature

I've grown up in a city. I hate cities. They're noisy, dirty and full of people who aren't afraid to step on you to get what they want. But I went to a boarding school in the country. When I visited friends houses, I felt peaceful, soothed. My soul was replenished. And then I returned to the city and lost myself again. These experiences have made me want to have a vege farm. Somewhere I can be in touch with Nature's rhythms, grow my own food, and live sustainably.

I feel that my understanding of Wicca would grow with this kind of life. I'd be in nature, watching the seasons and being in touch with them.
