Familiars

So I recently came to a realisation that I was probably pretty thick to have missed earlier.

My cat Bella is my familiar. I've called her my familiar for a while, without having a true understanding of our relationship.

She's my baby. I raised her from when she was a tiny kitten with trust issues stemming from mistreatment before we adopted her, and I've loved and supported her the whole time.

Likewise, she's watched me grow and go through life changes, and been my main comfort and non-judgemental friend.

However, I recently moved flats into a house with two cats, and Bella isn't overly social. As a result, she spends a lot of time outside (after she got out the first night, I figured that as she came back it would be fine if I let her out again). I get pretty twitchy if I don't see her for a couple of days, especially now that we're in a new place.

But I recently realised our connection. When she's outside, I call for her until my voice is hoarse, and she doesn't come (she's stubborn and independent what else should I expect?). But when she wants to come inside, I feel a tug to go check the door, or go call for her again.

Everytime that I feel this tug, she's sitting outside, or meowing at me from the path.

So I've recently come to understand that we have a low-key psychic connection, probably stemming from spending so much time together. Or maybe she's my furry soulmate. Either way, I love her and I know how to contact her :) I've started trying to call her telepathically. It's not an exact science, as she's never come when she's called anyway, but she usually shows up later, so maybe it's working.
